Amman: The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation has signed three grant agreements with the German Development Bank (KfW) totaling £35 million to implement the "Employment through Local Entrepreneurship" project. These agreements aim to bolster local entrepreneurship and job creation in Jordan.

According to Jordan News Agency, the agreements were signed with the presence of German Ambassador to Jordan Bertram von Moltke and KfW's Country Director, Matthias Schmidt-Rosen. Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan expressed Jordan's appreciation for Germany's ongoing support, highlighting the grants as a significant advancement in the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Toukan stated that the project will empower micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) by improving access to finance and promoting a more inclusive entrepreneurial environment. The initiative particularly focuses on enhancing women's economic participation, aligning with the Kingdom's Economic Modernization Vision.

Schmidt-Rosen highlighted Germany's commitment to private sector development in Jordan. He noted that the grant will facilitate the growth of MSMEs, create sustainable employment opportunities, and strengthen the role of women in the economy.
