Jordan and Mexico to Strengthen Diplomatic Ties and Address Regional Issues

Amman: Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Mexico's Foreign Minister, Roberto Velasco, engaged in discussions to bolster bilateral relations and address pressing regional developments.

According to Jordan News Agency, during a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Safadi and Velasco agreed to initiate regular political consultations between their respective foreign ministries as outlined in a 2015 memorandum of understanding. The inaugural round of these consultations is slated for the end of 2026. Additionally, the two ministers plan to convene on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September to deliberate on practical measures to enhance cooperation and coordination.

Safadi took the opportunity to inform Velasco about the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, emphasizing the deteriorating conditions in the occupied West Bank due to what he termed as illegal Israeli actions and ongoing violations in Jerusalem, particularly concerning its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Furthermore, Safadi extended his congratulations to Velasco on his recent appointment and reiterated his commitment to collaborate closely to fortify Jordanian-Mexican relations and improve coordination on issues of shared interest.
