Jordan and Sri Lanka Explore New Economic Partnerships

Amman: Chair of the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) Ayman Alawneh and Sri Lankan Charg© d'Affaires Gajithra Navan discussed on Monday ways to strengthen trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Amman and Colombo. Alawneh emphasized the importance of transforming strong bilateral relations into active business partnerships by enhancing private sector participation, exchanging trade delegations, and exploring new investment and export opportunities.

According to Jordan News Agency, Alawneh highlighted that Jordan provides an attractive investment environment, bolstered by modern legislation, incentives, and its strategic position as a regional trade hub. Navan shared Sri Lanka's keen interest in deepening economic ties with Jordan, highlighting prospects in food industries, tourism, information technology, education, and agriculture. She assured that the embassy would facilitate business connections and organize joint economic events to foster collaboration.

The trade volume between Jordan and Sri Lanka reached approximately $79 million in 2024, a decrease from $93 million in 2023, indicating a potential area for growth through these strengthened partnerships.
