Amman: Jordan's Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Al-Qudah, engaged in discussions with Syrian Director General of Borders and Customs, Qutaiba Badawi, focusing on measures to enhance operations at the border crossings between the two nations and facilitate the movement of goods and people.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting held in Damascus, both officials highlighted the significance of creating optimal conditions to stimulate bilateral trade, improve transport flows in both directions, and ensure the full implementation of existing agreements. They underscored the importance of continuing to strengthen commercial exchanges and enhancing cooperation at the Nasib and Jaber border crossings, alongside simplifying import procedures.
The discussions also included plans to develop the Jordanian-Syrian joint free zone into an attractive environment for investment. This involves improving services for travelers and drivers and removing transit obstacles. Al-Qudah and Badawi emphasized the necessity of expanding the Nasib and Jaber border crossings to handle the increasing truck and traveler numbers, improve operational capacity, and enhance logistical efficiency at these crossings.
