Amman:Minister of Transport and Labor Nidal Qatamin and Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Hakan Karaçay held discussions on Tuesday to strengthen cooperation in railway connectivity, road transport, freight transit, vocational training, and the preservation of the historic Hejaz Railway.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting centered on potential railway connections related to Jordan's infrastructure projects, including the Aqaba-Shidiya-Ma'an Railway Project and the Aqaba-Ma'an Dry Port Project. Plans to develop a national railway network connected to regional transport corridors were also discussed.
Both parties explored measures to facilitate truck movement and transit procedures between Jordan and Trkiye. They discussed improving freight transport and enhancing supply chain efficiency to support bilateral trade. Qatamin emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in transport, logistics, and regional connectivity, highlighting the historical relations between the two countries.
In terms of vocational training, discussions included exchanges of technical expertise and potential cooperation through programs offered by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) to enhance workforce skills and strengthen institutional partnerships. Additionally, the officials explored cooperation in preserving and developing the historic Hejaz Railway, including its museum at the Amman Railway Station. They addressed exchanging expertise in documentation, maintenance, and promoting awareness of the railway's history.
Ambassador Karaçay reaffirmed Trkiye's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in transport, railway connectivity, and vocational training, to advance shared economic interests.
