Ma'an: Samra Power Generation Company (SEPCO) and SITE Technology General Contracting signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract on Sunday for a 25-megawatt wind power project in Ma'an Governorate, funded by the United Arab Emirates.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement follows a cooperation pact established in February between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar). The project involves the supply and installation of five wind turbines with a total generating capacity of 25 megawatts at Batn Al Ghul in Ma'an Governorate.
The UAE government, through Masdar, will provide full financing for the project. Meanwhile, SEPCO will be responsible for operating and maintaining the facility after its construction and official handover.
The initiative aims to enhance Jordan-UAE cooperation and support Jordan's renewable energy expansion, contributing to energy security and a transition to clean and sustainable energy sources. It also aligns with national efforts to address increasing electricity demands through strategic, sustainable development projects.
The project represents a significant step in the partnership between Jordan and the UAE, demonstrating the countries' commitment to advancing strategic initiatives that promote sustainable development.
