Amman: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Huneiti, hosted Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, the United Kingdom's Defense Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa, along with his delegation at the General Command Headquarters on Tuesday. The meeting centered on enhancing military cooperation to improve readiness and bolster the capabilities of the Jordan Armed Forces.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions emphasized strategic defense partnerships, focusing on regional and international developments of mutual interest. The leaders explored avenues for enhancing military cooperation through training, armament, and coordination. The delegation was briefed on pressing regional security challenges and the strategies to address them, alongside discussions on defense coordination, training exchanges, and operational readiness.
The talks also shed light on the Jordan Armed Forces' humanitarian initiatives in Gaza and the West Bank, which include aid and medical assistance. Major General Huneiti highlighted the longstanding ties between Jordan and the United Kingdom, stressing the importance of leveraging past achievements to address regional security concerns.
Vice Admiral Ahlgren acknowledged the significant role of the Jordan Armed Forces in maintaining regional stability and reiterated the United Kingdom's commitment to expanding military cooperation. This includes expertise exchange and collaborative programs in training, qualification, and planning.
The visit concluded with the signing of the visitors' book, attended by senior Jordanian officers and the British Defense Attach© in Amman. Concurrently, the 2025 Jordanian-British Staff Talks and preparatory meetings reviewed the implementation of agreements and programs to enhance bilateral military coordination and planning.
