Amman:Jordan and Yemen have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing environmental cooperation and sharing technical expertise until 2028.
According to Jordan News Agency, the MoU establishes a framework for the protection of natural resources, advancing green growth, and supporting sustainable development goals. The agreement was signed by Jordan's Minister of Environment Ayman Soleiman and Yemeni Ambassador to Jordan Jalal Faqira.
Under the terms of the MoU, Jordan and Yemen will collaborate on transferring technical knowledge, adopting clean technologies, managing hazardous waste, and protecting air, water, and soil. The agreement also focuses on promoting eco-tourism, preserving marine environments, managing nature reserves, mitigating desertification, conducting joint biodiversity research, and developing climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies.
To ensure the effective implementation of these initiatives, a joint technical committee will be formed. This committee will oversee various programs, integrate environmental impact assessments into national development plans, and explore new areas for strategic partnership between the two nations.
