Amman: The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and the United Arab Emirates conducted three airdrops on Sunday to deliver humanitarian aid and food to several locations in the Gaza Strip. These efforts were carried out amid challenging humanitarian conditions in the region.
According to Jordan News Agency, the airdrops were facilitated by Royal Jordanian Air Force and UAE Air Force C-130 aircraft, delivering 25 tonnes of food and essential supplies. This initiative is part of Jordan's broader commitment to support the Palestinian people through collaboration with other nations and humanitarian organizations, including the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO).
Since the onset of the conflict, JAF has executed 127 airdrops, alongside 267 coordinated with other countries. While airdrops offer a rapid means of delivering urgent aid to hard-to-reach areas, ground convoys remain the primary method for aid distribution. JAF has organized 181 land convoys, consisting of 7,932 trucks, in partnership with the JHCO, the World Food Programme, and the World Central Kitchen.
In addition to logistical support, Jordanian field hospitals in Gaza continue to provide medical care. Over 120,588 patients have been treated in the northern field hospital, while 362,389 received care in the southern facility. More than 36,000 surgeries have been performed, and 532 prostheses fitted under the Restoring Hope Initiative.
Jordan's commitment extends to the Jordan Medical Corridor initiative, launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II, which has facilitated the evacuation of 112 injured and sick children, along with 241 family members, for treatment in Jordanian hospitals. This initiative aims to treat 2,000 children from Gaza.
