Amman: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned the escalating violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The ministry highlighted recent attacks on several villages where settlers reportedly burned homes, agricultural lands, and vehicles, uprooted trees, and assaulted Palestinian residents.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry's official spokesperson, Fouad Majali, expressed the Kingdom's strong disapproval of these attacks. Majali stated that these actions reflect the policies of the Israeli government, which he claims promote extremism and violence against Palestinians. He emphasized that these measures undermine the prospects for peace based on a two-state solution.
Majali held Israel, as the occupying power, responsible for the attacks. He called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by pressuring Israel to halt settler violence, ensure accountability for such crimes, and achieve justice.
In urging action, Majali reiterated the call for recognizing the legitimate rights of Palestinians to establish an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He stressed that this is the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
