Jordan, Cyprus Discuss Economic Cooperation

Amman: The Jordan Chamber of Industry held talks with the Cypriot Ambassador to the Kingdom, Sevag Avedissian, to discuss ways to enhance economic cooperation, particularly in the industrial sector, and to increase bilateral trade. According to Jordan News Agency, First Vice President of the Chamber, Hani Abu Hassan, highlighted the depth of relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation across various industrial, commercial, service, and tourism sectors. A statement issued by the Chamber on Thursday detailed Abu Hassan's remarks, underscoring the need to build on the strong political ties between Jordan and Cyprus and to focus on economic aspects that serve the interests of the private sector in both countries. He noted that Jordanian exports to Cyprus grew by 13 percent last year compared to the previous year. Ambassador Avedissian expressed his country's interest in expanding economic partnership with Jordan, especially in the food, pharmaceutical, chemica l, and construction industries, in addition to opportunities for cooperation in tourism and other fields. The two sides agreed on the importance of organizing bilateral business meetings between businesspeople from both countries in the near future and exchanging trade delegations to enhance commercial and investment cooperation and achieve integration in industrial fields of mutual interest.
