Amman: Jordan on Wednesday condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's remark expressing advocacy for the so-called "Greater Israel" vision as a dangerous and provocative escalation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs rejected Netanyahu's remarks as a clear threat to the sovereignty of states and a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.
Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah reaffirmed Jordan's unequivocal rejection of the Israeli Prime Minister's rhetoric. He stressed that such claims from Israeli officials will not undermine Jordan or other Arab nations, nor will they erode the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
Qudah noted that the statements reflect the increasingly isolated position of the Israeli government amid its continued aggression against the occupied Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He warned that the propagation of extremist views by officials within the Israeli leadership serves to perpetuate cycles of violence and conflict.
He called for a firm and unified response from the international community, urging immediate action to condemn and halt provocative statements and policies, which he said pose a serious threat to regional stability and global peace and security.
