Amman: The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, and the Logistics Cluster, has dispatched a convoy of over 80 trucks laden with essential shelter supplies to the Gaza Strip. The convoy aims to provide immediate assistance to an estimated 300,500 displaced individuals.
According to Jordan News Agency, the convoy is carrying 49,200 tarpaulin pieces and 5,430 family tents, which are crucial for the residents of Gaza who are in dire need of shelter. Shelter remains one of the most pressing humanitarian needs in the region, particularly for children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups. The dire situation is exacerbated by the harsh winter conditions and the fact that nearly 500,000 Palestinians have returned to northern Gaza only to find their homes destroyed.
Karl Baker, the Regional Crisis Coordinator for IOM, highlighted the urgency of delivering shelter supplies promptly and without interruption to support those who have returned to northern Gaza. The effort is part of a broader initiative to enhance the humanitarian response and alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza, as emphasized by Hussein Al-Shabli, Secretary-General of JHCO.
