Amman: Under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) - Arab Army launched a significant humanitarian operation on Wednesday, deploying a squadron of military helicopters loaded with essential relief, medical, and pharmaceutical supplies to the Gaza Strip. This unprecedented operation forms part of the "humanitarian bridge" initiative to support the people of Gaza, which His Majesty highlighted in his recent addresses at the United Nations and the Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh. According to Jordan News Agency, the fleet of eight military aircraft departed from Jordan, carrying over 7 tonnes of aid. The shipment included crucial foodstuffs, medicinal supplies, health essentials, and specific provisions for children. The aid was transported from the Qarara area and handed over to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in Gaza for distribution among the local population. Jordan remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the people of Gaza through various aven ues. A total of approximately 56,573 tonnes of aid, encompassing food, relief items, medicines, and health supplies, has been dispatched, as stated by a JAF representative. Since October 7, 2023, Jordan has sent around 4,082 trucks to the Gaza Strip and delivered 53 aid aircraft via El Arish Airport. Additionally, JAF has performed 123 airdrops and participated in 266 other similar operations, collaborating with Arab and allied countries.
