Cairo: The 116th regular session of the Arab League's Economic and Social Council commenced on Tuesday in Cairo at the senior officials' level, with active participation from Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, Jordan was represented by Dana Al-Zoubi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, during the preparatory meeting preceding the council's ministerial session slated for Wednesday at the Arab League headquarters.
Ali Al-Maliki, the Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the Arab League, outlined that the session's agenda encompasses over 30 economic and social issues. These include standing items, follow-ups to previous resolutions from the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit and the Economic and Social Council, alongside new topics proposed by the member states.
The meeting is focusing on various economic and social proposals, such as the establishment of the Arab Medicines Agency "Waad," creation of an Arab Council of Ministers for Artificial Intelligence, an Arab Council of Trade Ministers, and an Arab Customs Affairs Council. Additionally, discussions include the establishment of the Arab Center for Artificial Intelligence in Baghdad.
