Abu dhabi: Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine participated in the Global Rail 2025 conference in Abu Dhabi, UAE, joining ministers, officials, and experts from numerous countries.

According to Jordan News Agency, Katamine took part in the ministerial session titled “Seamless Borders: Transport as a Catalyst for Regional Integration.” The session focused on enhancing regional connectivity through the development of transport and railway networks, and the role of these projects in supporting economic integration among Arab states and facilitating the movement of people and goods.

During his presentation, Katamine emphasized the importance of developing an integrated transport infrastructure. He noted that modern railway projects are crucial for boosting inter-trade, attracting investments, and linking the region to global markets. He highlighted the need for effective regional and international partnerships to develop the transport sector and strengthen its contribution to economic growth, describing transport projects as essential tools for achieving regional economic integration.

The Ministry of Transport and the Jordan-Hejaz Railway Corporation (JHR) showcased a dedicated pavilion at the exhibition, highlighting Jordan’s future railway projects and the historical and economic significance of the Hejaz Railway. The pavilion attracted visits from various delegations, including the CEO of Etihad Rail, who were briefed on the exhibits.

On the sidelines of the conference, Katamine held bilateral meetings with Saudi Transport and Logistics Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser and Bahraini Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa. They discussed cooperation prospects in various transport fields.

The conference aims to foster regional and international dialogue on the future of railways and their role in economic and social development. It also seeks to exchange expertise in smart and sustainable transport management, financing, and operations.

Jordan’s participation underscores its commitment to working with regional and international partners to develop transport infrastructure, support interconnectivity initiatives, and enhance trade, investment, and sustainable development in the region.

Global Rail is held periodically, bringing together transport and logistics decision-makers from around the world to showcase the latest innovations in the railway sector and promote integrated, sustainable transport cooperation.
