Amman: The Jordan Engineers Association (JEA) honoured the winners of its 2025 graduation projects competition, along with outstanding projects in the industrial, traffic, and transport sectors, at a ceremony held at King Hussein Business Park under the patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan. In a speech delivered on her behalf by Princess Sumaya University for Technology President Wajdan Abu Al Haija, Princess Sumaya emphasized the importance of engineering in the current era of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and sustainability.
According to Jordan News Agency, Princess Sumaya highlighted the significant contributions of Jordanian engineers to national development. She called for the strengthening of ties between universities and the industry to transform research and student projects into practical solutions, companies, jobs, and economic value. She lauded projects focused on renewable energy, smart cities, traffic and waste management, water-saving agriculture, digital health, robotics, and artificial intelligence, urging students to become innovators who create real-world impact through their engineering projects.
JEA President Abdullah Ghosheh remarked that the ceremony not only celebrates the project winners but also marks the beginning of a journey that can turn student ideas into businesses, inventions, systems, and solutions to national challenges. He advocated for enhanced cooperation among universities, professional associations, and the labor market, emphasizing that successful graduation projects should address real problems while considering economic, environmental, and sustainability factors. Ghosheh assured continued support from the association for promising projects, facilitating connections with productive and economic sectors.
Yasmin Murad, head of the association's Graduation Projects Committee, stated that the competition underscores the association's dedication to education, research, innovation, and empowering Jordanian youth. She noted that this year's competition involved 17 Jordanian universities, approximately 300 students, and 150 academic and engineering judges. The event introduced a digitized application process, 11 new awards, an enhanced judging model, more judges per project, and stronger measures for independent, confidential, fair, and transparent evaluation.
