Amman: The European Union Delegation to Jordan and the College of Europe, in cooperation with the Jordanian government, have launched the second edition of the program "Strengthening the Capacities of Jordanian Public Administrations to Enhance EU-Jordan Relations." This EU-funded initiative seeks to build upon the success of its first edition in the fall of 2025 by further enhancing the knowledge, skills, and capacities of civil service employees, while also advancing cooperation between the EU and Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, Amman hosted a high-level opening and training event for the program from September 8 to 9, 2026. The event brought together 19 young officials from various Jordanian institutions, alongside partners and key stakeholders. The agenda focused on the EU's institutional structure and decision-making processes, with particular emphasis on the role of EU institutions and bodies in external action, as well as the strategic relationship between the EU and the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA), including the EU-Jordan strategic and comprehensive partnership.
The training phase in Amman concluded with a closing ceremony and a networking event that gathered participants, representatives of the EU Delegation to Jordan, other key stakeholders, and graduates from the program's first edition, which also targeted 19 participants. The ceremony was attended by EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, Belgian Ambassador Gianmarco Rizzo, and Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation Secretary-General Omar Fanek.
"Together with the Jordanian government, the EU Delegation in Amman wants to invest in the new generation of civil servants through enhancing their knowledge, skills, and networks within Jordanian and European public administrations," stated Chatzisavas. "We are equipping these employees with the tools and ambition to advance shared priorities in line with the strategic and comprehensive partnership between Jordan and the EU," he added.
