Amman: The Jordanian-Gulf Forum on "Harnessing Modern Technology to Mitigate the Impact of Climate Change 2025" concluded on Tuesday. Organized by the Ministry of Youth in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the three-day event brought together youth delegations from across the Gulf region.
According to Jordan News Agency, Mazen Abu Baqar, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth, described the forum as a significant step in advancing Arab cooperation, particularly in environmental affairs, which have become a global priority in the sustainable development agenda. He emphasized that such initiatives reflect the strategic vision of Arab leadership to empower youth and involve them in devising innovative, tech-driven solutions to climate challenges.
He reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to promoting environmental awareness among Jordanian and Arab youth by offering interactive platforms that encourage knowledge exchange and empower the next generation to lead environmental transformation and sustainability in their communities.
Nayef Abu Rumman, Forum Director and Head of Youth Centers and Scouts at the ministry, praised the strong participation from the Gulf, which he said reflects the deep ties between Jordan and the GCC countries and a shared vision for a sustainable environment utilizing technology to protect natural resources for future generations.
Mohammed Al-Mawjidi, from the UAE delegation, highlighted the importance of such platforms in strengthening youth bonds and promoting environmental cooperation.
The forum featured field visits and discussion sessions, including workshops on "The Role of Nature Reserves in Employing Technology to Preserve the Environment and Biodiversity," held at the Social Innovation Hub at Tafila Youth Center.
Participants also visited Dana Biosphere Reserve as a model of environmental sustainability and Ajloun Governorate, where they explored Ajloun Young Women's Center's experience in supporting eco-entrepreneurial projects. The tour concluded with a visit to the Ajloun Cable Car to appreciate the region's natural beauty and terrain.
Participants shared positive reflections on their experience: Abdulrahman Al-Ruwaili from Saudi Arabia described the forum as enriching; Amina Al-Kaabi from Qatar praised the platform for showcasing climate tech applications; Asaad Al-Nawasrah from Jordan emphasized the value of knowledge exchange; Janan Hussein from Bahrain admired Jordan's environmental projects; and Omani delegation head Hani Al-Rawahi commended the hands-on approach that offered direct exposure to sustainability practices.
