Amman: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti received Chief of Staff of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, General Hiroaki Uchikura, and his accompanying delegation on Sunday at the General Command headquarters. The two sides engaged in discussions regarding the prospects for military cooperation between their armed forces, with a particular focus on training and expertise exchange, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
According to Jordan News Agency, the delegation was briefed on the operational and humanitarian efforts carried out by the Jordan Armed Forces across various domains. This includes their role in supporting Palestinians in Gaza by delivering relief, medical, and food assistance, as well as their missions aimed at bolstering regional security. The briefings also covered existing joint training programs and explored ways to enhance them through combined exercises and specialized courses, with the goal of improving operational readiness and broadening the scope of expertise exchange.
Huneiti emphasized the depth of Jordanian-Japanese relations, highlighting that the defense partnership serves as a model for developing joint capabilities and supporting international efforts to enhance security and stability. Uchikura, in his remarks, praised the Jordan Armed Forces' contribution to regional security and humanitarian assistance, and expressed Japan's commitment to continue strengthening military cooperation, particularly in the areas of training and expertise exchange.
