Amman: Developing a Curriculum on Green Hydrogen Technologies and Applications," the first stage of the Green Hydrogen Project's implementation, has started. In collaboration with their Arab and foreign counterparts, a consortium of Jordanian universities is carrying out the initiative.
According to Jordan News Agency, the project, which is funded by the European Union, aims to improve collaboration between businesses and universities by creating courses on cutting-edge green hydrogen technologies through adaptive learning and teaching techniques. This initiative also considers the potential impacts of climate change.
Professor Ahmad Al-Salaymeh, the project director in Jordan, emphasized that green hydrogen is pivotal for a future free from global warming and is a climate-neutral energy carrier. He noted that the project targets southern Mediterranean nations that require professional programs focused on green hydrogen, particularly in the industrial and transportation sectors, to enhance the use of renewable energy and environmental protection.
Al-Salaymeh highlighted the importance of educating the younger generation on green hydrogen's economic and environmental benefits, stressing its low cost and lack of pollutants. He sees it as a real opportunity for integration into educational curricula and programs.
The project is being implemented through collaboration with the University of Jordan, Al-Hussein Technical University, and universities from Germany, Austria, Cyprus, Algeria, and Egypt. It aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice in green hydrogen technology by offering new and updated courses in higher education institutions, aligning with contemporary European strategies.
Al-Salaymeh stated that the project aligns with Jordan's renewable energy transition plans by leveraging its position in the global solar belt, forming international partnerships, and relying on Jordanian researchers and experts to advance solar and wind energy projects, energy storage, and smart infrastructure development.
