Amman: Jordan and Libya signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the fields of labor and employment. The agreement aims to focus on areas including vocational training, labor legislation, inspection, and occupational safety and health.
According to Jordan News Agency, the MoU was signed by Minister of Transport and Labor Nidal Qatamin for Jordan, and by Libyan Minister of Labor Ali Rida representing Libya's Government of National Unity. The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Labor and was attended by Libyan Ambassador to Jordan Musa Dagali, Ministry Secretary-General Abdul Halim Dujan, Vocational Training Corporation Director-General Raafat Sawafin, and other ministry officials.
Qatamin highlighted that the agreement strengthens the existing relations between Jordan and Libya, offering a structured framework for increasing bilateral cooperation in labor-related areas and sharing expertise between the two nations. The MoU outlines collaboration in employment and labor legislation, vocational training, and the training of vocational instructors along with career guidance.
Rida expressed that the agreement would extend cooperation between Jordan and Libya, enabling the exchange of expertise in vocational training, labor inspection, occupational safety, and employment sectors. During the meeting, Qatamin also provided the Libyan minister and his delegation with insights into Jordan's labor market regulation efforts and significant employment initiatives, such as the National Employment Program, the Satellite Production Units Initiative, and the national employment platform, Sajil.
