Jordan Mobile Amputee Support Unit Continues Operations in Gaza

Gaza: The Mobile Amputee Support Unit of the Jordanian Field Hospital "South Gaza/7" continued its humanitarian services to amputees on Monday as part of the "Restore Hope" initiative, under the supervision of the Royal Medical Services in cooperation with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization and local partners.

According to Jordan News Agency, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty the King, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, hospital staff have installed 583 prosthetic limbs since their arrival on the mission, the hospital's force commander reported. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of amputees, improve their lives, and aid them in managing their daily activities.

The commander highlighted that the installation of prosthetic limbs is a significant achievement, as the procedure takes just one hour. The devices are adjustable, allowing patients to easily use them according to their individual needs. A prosthetist at the unit emphasized the importance of physical rehabilitation in helping patients adapt to the new devices. Medical teams provide physical therapy sessions, psychological and social support, and guidance on limb care to enhance patients' independence and morale.

These vital services are delivered through two mobile clinics that offer necessary medical support. Limb replacements are documented electronically via Jordan's "Hakim" program, enabling patients to follow up remotely with a rehabilitation specialist in the Kingdom, ensuring continuity of healthcare.
