Jordan Participates in CAMT Meeting in Egypt.

Alexandria: A Jordanian delegation, headed by Minister of Transport, Wissam Tahtamouni, participated in the 37th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Transport (CAMT) and the 29th General Assembly of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), held in Alexandria, Egypt. The meetings spanned two days and brought together Arab transport ministers to discuss various issues impacting land, air, and maritime transport. According to Jordan News Agency, the agenda for the event included 26 key issues, with a major focus on supporting the Palestinian economy and implementing a strategic plan for the development of the transport sector in Jerusalem. Discussions also centered around Arab agreements designed to regulate the transport of passengers and goods across inter-Arab highways. The ministry statement highlighted additional topics such as road safety, smart transportation, expertise transfer, standardization of truck weights, and regulation of maritime transport procedures. There was also a focus on establishing an Arab agency for maritime safety, integrating artificial intelligence into the transport and logistics industries, and launching a regional center for ship management in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Furthermore, the meetings addressed an amended agreement concerning tax exemptions on activities and equipment of Arab air carriers, the expansion of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization's membership, and various Arab agreements related to the transport sector in all its forms.
