Amman:The Board of the Jordan Press Association (JPA) convened an extraordinary session on Sunday, led by President Tariq Al-Momani, to determine the conditions and selection process for journalists nominated to join the official 2027 Jordanian Hajj delegation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting follows a decision to allocate eight seats for JPA members, which marks a 50 percent reduction in Jordan's overall Hajj visa quota compared to previous years. The JPA received an official request from the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to submit names for the upcoming Hajj season within the association's designated quota, in line with administrative and financial guidelines for Hajj and Umrah affairs.
The JPA has set forth specific eligibility criteria and documentation requirements for applicants. Nominees must be active, registered members of the JPA, employed by a licensed media outlet, and officially nominated by their employer. Candidates should not have previously participated in JPA Hajj delegations.
Required documents include an official Social Security statement proving current employment at a media organization, a passport valid through October 30, 2027, two personal photos with a white background, and a vaccination certificate for meningococcal meningitis. Passports need to be machine-readable and newly issued, not extended.
Media organizations wishing to nominate employees are urged to include their 2026 Media Commission license with the application, ensuring all documents strictly adhere to the specified criteria. The JPA has set a submission deadline for applications at its headquarters in Amman, which is 200 PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
