Amman: Jordan, under the leadership of King Abdullah, has significantly increased its aid efforts to support the people of Gaza, according to Hussein Shibli, the Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO).
According to Jordan News Agency, Shibli announced during a press conference that King Abdullah has instructed the construction of additional warehouses and the dispatch of more aid trucks to Gaza. This directive aims to enhance the humanitarian support provided to the region. The JHCO plans to expand its storage facilities by approximately 10,000 square meters to accommodate the increased aid supplies.
Shibli highlighted that the most recent convoy, the 140th, is the largest humanitarian aid convoy sent to Gaza. It consists of 120 trucks carrying essential supplies, including food, medical equipment, and relief materials. Since the start of the conflict, the JHCO has dispatched approximately 73,000 tons of aid to Gaza, valued at over $212 million, benefiting nearly 1.4 million individuals.
The organization is actively working within Gaza, providing hot meals, clean water, and bread through mobile bakeries for the local population. King Abdullah's initiatives, such as the "Restore Hope" program supporting amputees in Gaza, have already benefited 245 individuals. Additionally, Jordan is operating an obstetrics and gynecology hospital in collaboration with the Royal Medical Services, showcasing its efforts in establishing field hospitals and delivering aid despite challenges.
Since the onset of Israeli aggression, Jordan has been proactive, initially dispatching 53 planes to Al-Arish Airport in Egypt. Once ground routes were accessible, 140 convoys were sent to Gaza.
"These efforts underscore Jordan's unwavering commitment as the closest supporter of Palestinians and Gaza in every capacity and through all its resources," Shibli stated.
The aid efforts are supported by contributions from individuals, institutions, local and international organizations, and friendly nations. Shibli affirmed that the JHCO is prepared to provide additional assistance, particularly if a ceasefire agreement is reached.
He also mentioned the launch of a nationwide donation campaign for Gaza, which has seen active participation from citizens and institutions. Through these efforts, Jordan reaffirms its commitment to global humanitarian causes and supporting the people of Gaza in challenging circumstances.
