Jordan Ranks Fifth in Arab World for Scientific Journals and Cited Authors

Amman:Jordan has been ranked fifth in the Arab world for the number of accredited scientific journals and cited authors. This is based on the 11th annual report of the Arcif Impact Factor and Citation Index for Arab Scientific Journals.

According to Jordan News Agency, the report highlights that 45 Jordanian journals have been accredited, making up about 3.5% of the total. Additionally, 7,122 Jordanian authors have been cited, representing 5.3% of the cited authors.

The Arcif report analyzed over 1.07 million peer-reviewed scientific articles authored by approximately 413,000 Arab authors. Out of these, the work of more than 135,000 authors, or 32.57%, has been cited.

Arcif Head Sami Khazendar emphasized that the findings offer extensive data on scientific production and publishing in Arabic, aiding in tracking research trends, quality, and impact across Arab nations. Notably, compared to the 2016 report, the 2026 edition shows a 379% increase in accredited journals, a 978% rise in analyzed articles, and an 8,282% surge in cited Arab authors.

The number of analyzed references and citations has also significantly increased, exceeding 30.14 million, reflecting a 979% rise over the period.

Algeria holds the top position for the number of accredited journals, with 425 journals accounting for 32.6% of the total. Arcif is managed by a supervisory and coordination council, which includes representatives from the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab States, ESCWA, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and the Marefa digital database, as well as a scientific committee of Arab and international academics.
