Amman: Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah emphasized the importance of boosting trade exchange between Jordan and European Union countries to increase Jordanian exports. This move aims to support economic growth and stimulate national productive sectors.
According to Jordan News Agency, Qudah highlighted during a meeting with the board of the European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (EuroCham) that economic relations between Jordan and European countries are evolving. He stressed the necessity of building on existing agreements and partnerships to create more opportunities for Jordanian products in European markets. During the meeting, Qudah announced a remarkable rise in Jordan's exports to EU countries, which increased by 72.3 percent in the first two months of this year, reaching JD112 million compared to JD65 million during the same period in 2025.
Qudah attributed this growth to the improved competitiveness of Jordanian products and their enhanced access to global markets, benefiting from signed trade agreements. He emphasized the need to intensify promotional and marketing efforts for Jordanian products in European markets. Additionally, he called for enhanced cooperation with the private sector and European trade chambers to expand trade exchange and attract more high-quality investments to Jordan.
The minister further stated that the Economic Modernization Vision aims to develop productive sectors and improve the competitiveness of the national economy. This vision includes implementing strategic projects such as the National Water Carrier, railway projects, the Amra City project, and linking industrial zones to natural gas networks. These initiatives are intended to improve the business environment, reduce production costs, and increase Jordan's investment appeal.
EuroCham Chairman Mohammad Smadi expressed the chamber's commitment to strengthening economic and trade cooperation with the European Union. He highlighted efforts to build effective partnerships between the Jordanian business community and its European counterparts. EuroCham is actively organizing economic meetings, trade missions, and promoting investment opportunities in Jordan to attract new investments and open additional markets for national products. Smadi also noted the significance of the upcoming Jordanian-European Investment Conference, which is set to explore new investment opportunities and strengthen mutual economic partnerships before the end of the year.
