Amman: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates "strongly" condemned the Israeli extremists' storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and their provocative practices, carried out under protection of the Israeli occupation police.
According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry stated that these acts are a flagrant violation of Jerusalem's historical and legal status quo and its holy sites, emphasizing that Israel has no sovereignty over Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif. In a statement released on Thursday, Ministry Spokesperson Fuad Majali reaffirmed the Kingdom's "strong" rejection and condemnation of the Israeli hardliners' ongoing incursions and provocative practices.
Majali highlighted that these Israeli actions represent a violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and are part of Israel's attempts, as the occupying power, to impose new facts on the ground aimed at dividing Al-Haram Al-Sharif in terms of time and space. He urged the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and compel Israel to halt its ongoing violations on Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, its escalation in the West Bank, and its current aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Majali also emphasized the need to fulfill the Palestinian people's rights to establish an independent state on their national soil, to halt the crimes committed against them, and to hold the perpetrators accountable. He affirmed that Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its entire area of 144 dunams, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims.
In this context, Majali stated that the Jordan-run Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the legal entity with exclusive jurisdiction to administer all affairs of the Holy Mosque and regulate access to its yards.
