Amman: Jordan Television aired on Tuesday evening the recorded confessions of suspects involved in cases related to rocket manufacturing, recruitment, and drone activities targeting national security. The confessions revealed details of illegal activities and plans aimed at undermining the country's security.
According to Jordan News Agency, the broadcast featured confessions from eight suspects, including those involved in three main cases: rocket manufacturing, two recruitment cases, and a drones case. The suspects admitted to engaging in activities that compromised national security.
In the rocket manufacturing case, Abdullah Hisham Ahmad Abdulrahman, a civil engineering graduate, confessed to collaborating with members of the unlicensed Muslim Brotherhood group to produce rockets. Abdullah, along with his relative Muath Al Ghanem, received training in Lebanon and set up a workshop in Zarqa, Jordan, equipped with lathe and CNC machines to manufacture rocket components.
Muath Abdel Hakim Hassan Al Ghanem, another suspect, confirmed his involvement in the rocket manufacturing scheme, highlighting his recruitment by Abdullah and their subsequent training in Lebanon. Muath assisted in setting up the workshop in Zarqa and later a separate warehouse in the Nuqaira area for further operations.
Suspect Muhsen Hassan Mohammad Al Ghanem, a trader in construction materials, disclosed his role in facilitating financial transactions for Abdullah's project. He admitted to transferring funds and assisting with the importation of CNC machines, despite his suspicions about the project's nature.
In the recruitment cases, Khader Abdulaziz and Marwan Hawamdeh confessed to recruiting youth for the unlicensed Muslim Brotherhood group. Abdulaziz, involved in ideological and security courses, noted his long-standing association with the group. Marwan detailed his recruitment activities, including meetings abroad, and his collaboration with Anas Abu Awwad to recruit youth in Jordan.
Anas Abu Awwad, recruited by Marwan, admitted to participating in meetings abroad and planning recruitment activities in Jordan. He revealed that he was provided with an encrypted phone and instructions for communication and coordination.
In the drones case, suspects Ali Qasem and Abdulaziz Haroun described their plans to manufacture drones. Qasem, along with others, sought Haroun's expertise in aviation engineering to design and build drones. Haroun researched materials suitable for drone manufacturing, drawing inspiration from the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and considered obtaining resources through his father's connections with arms dealers.
The confessions aired by Jordan Television provide insight into the suspects' involvement in activities that posed a threat to national security, highlighting the extent of their plans and collaborations.
