Amman: The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) held a meeting on Sunday with British Ambassador to Jordan Philip Hall to transform His Majesty King Abdullah II's visit to London in July into concrete economic initiatives. Both the ACC and the British Embassy are keen on leveraging the royal visit's business forum to enhance trade, attract investments, and establish commercial partnerships.
According to Jordan News Agency, officials from both sides discussed potential joint ventures in various priority sectors. These include digital technology, water, transportation, healthcare, tourism, logistics, and value-added manufacturing. Khalil Tawfiq, Chair of the ACC, emphasized the importance of identifying target companies and following up with UK firms that have shown interest in the Jordanian market. He also stressed the need to expand the presence of Jordanian goods and services in the British market.
Tawfiq expressed the chamber's willingness to collaborate with the British Embassy's commercial section to foster connections between Jordanian and UK companies. He highlighted the importance of sharing market intelligence and opening direct trade channels. Additionally, Tawfiq called for the activation of the memorandum of understanding between the ACC and the West London Chambers of Commerce through trade delegations and business matchmaking sessions.
Ambassador Hall reaffirmed the UK's commitment to strengthening economic relations and enhancing bilateral ties. He urged Jordanian officials to engage with British firms in the region and position Jordan as a "stable hub" for regional expansion. He also emphasized the need for joint efforts to boost tourism between the two nations.
During the first half of 2026, Jordan's exports to the UK amounted to approximately JD36 million, while imports from the UK were valued at JD121 million.
