Amman: The Daman Investment and Agricultural Industries Company (DIAI), in partnership with the Safouh Muzdhirah for Agriculture Company, has entered into an agreement with Numo International Food Industries to supply processed potato products to a new factory that Numo is establishing for the production of semi-fried frozen potatoes.
According to Jordan News Agency, Abdul Hadi Fallahat, Chairperson of the Daman Company, stated that the agreement aligns with the company's strategy to transition from traditional to industrial agriculture. This shift aims to produce crops specifically for the food industry, thereby enhancing the integration between agricultural production and industrial processing.
Under the agreement, the factory by Numo will receive 20,000 tons of processed potatoes starting in 2026. Fallahat emphasized that the strategy is designed to maximize the efficiency and economic returns of agricultural investments through strategic partnerships with local and regional stakeholders. This initiative is expected to contribute to the localization of agro-industrial supply chains in Jordan.
He further explained that the company is committed to a sustainable transformation plan, focusing on economically viable projects that supply local raw materials to the food industry. This move is also intended to boost the competitiveness of Jordanian products in regional markets.
Hassan Kabous, Chairperson of Numo International Food Industries, noted that the new factory in Ghor al-Mazra'a is a crucial component of the company's expansion strategy in the food sector. The factory will develop specialized production lines to meet local market demand with high-quality products. Kabous highlighted that the partnership ensures the sustainability of supply chains and product standards, promoting strong integration between agriculture and industry.
Kabous also pointed out that choosing Jordan for this project highlights the Kingdom's favorable investment climate, advanced infrastructure, and government support for the industrial and agricultural sectors. He remarked that Jordan serves as an ideal platform for developing high-quality food projects that enhance the regional value chain.
Iyad Dweik, Director General of the Safouh Muzdhirah for Agriculture Company, mentioned that their company, as a strategic partner of Daman, is responsible for marketing and supplying processed potatoes to local factories, including Numo's new facility. He asserted that the partnership will bolster the production of high-quality Jordanian agro-industrial products, enhance national technological capabilities, and improve the Kingdom's standing in the regional food processing sector.
Numo International Food Industries is part of the AlKbous Group for Trade, Industry, and Investment, a prominent Yemeni group with significant food industry investments in Jordan and the broader region. The DIAI, owned by the Social Security Investment Fund, functions as the Fund's agricultural arm, implementing production and development projects that support food security, economic development, and sustainable growth in Jordan.
The partnership signifies a move towards building an integrated agro-industrial sector capable of fulfilling local market requirements and advancing Jordan's position as a regional hub for food industries. This aligns with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to invest in productive projects that achieve food security and bolster national economic development.
