Amman: The Jordanian Charity Medicine Bank hosted an interactive panel discussion titled "Digital Awareness Protects Against Misleading Ads" on Monday as part of the "Tawk Naja" (Lifeline) initiative.
According to Jordan News Agency, Mahmoud Maghaira, head of the Public Security Directorate's (PSD) Cybercrime Unit, emphasized digital literacy as the foremost defense against online fraud. He highlighted the growing trend of scammers using fake ads, fraudulent links, and deceptive offers to collect personal data and steal money.
Maghaira advised the public to verify the sources of advertisements before engaging with them, to refrain from sharing personal or financial information on unverified websites, and to report any suspicious content to official authorities. He also mentioned that the Cybercrime Unit is actively prosecuting online scammers while conducting public awareness campaigns.
Ashraf Al-Kilani, Chairman of the Jordanian Charity Medicine Bank, explained that the session is in line with the "Tawk Naja" initiative's aim of enhancing community protection and promoting national cybersecurity awareness, alongside the organization's primary humanitarian mission.
