Jordanian, French Elite Forces Implement 4-Day Military Exercise

Amman: The Jabal "Mountain" 6 joint tactical exercise, carried out by Rapid Intervention Battalion/Commandos 61, a unit of the His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Rapid Intervention Brigade, kicked off Monday, with participation of a French special forces team.

According to Jordan News Agency, the four-week drill aims to train elite servicemen on joint coordination, prompt response to any emergency, and bolster capability to deal with all scenario-related circumstances and challenges, which would ensure implementation of "quick and effective" decisions.

The exercise features combat activities in mountainous areas, as well as airlifting equipment and ammunition, rappelling operations from rocky sections, free climbing, ground medical evacuation in similar terrains, logistical resupply, and use of reconnaissance and sniper elements in mountainous regions, according to a Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army statement.

The drill is also part of the JAF's ongoing training programs, in cooperation with Arab and friendly armies, aimed to exchange military expertise, raise level of combat "readiness and efficiency," develop the participating personnel's skills and enhance their capabilities to confront various challenges.
