Amman: The Jordanian-Greek Parliamentary Friendship Association, led by MP Hail Ayyash, convened with Greek Ambassador to Jordan Irene Riga to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly focusing on parliamentary engagement.
According to Jordan News Agency, Ayyash emphasized the long-standing and robust nature of Jordanian-Greek relations, which he described as an exemplary partnership extending beyond mere diplomatic interactions to encompass various sectors. Highlighting tourism as a pivotal area for collaboration, Ayyash pointed out Jordan's capacity to attract Greek tourists through its religious, medical, and cultural offerings, while also advocating for increased investment between the countries' private sectors to drive economic growth and job creation.
Deputy Speaker of the Lower House Huda Naffa reinforced these views, labeling the Jordanian-Greek relationship as a strategic alliance across political, economic, and legislative fields. She highlighted shared views on regional security and stability and urged collaboration in areas such as transport, clean energy, and cultural tourism.
Ambassador Riga reiterated Greece's commitment to strengthening ties with Jordan, particularly in economic and trade domains. She underlined the importance of facilitating visits by Greek business delegations to explore investment opportunities and potential joint ventures. Additionally, she commended Jordan's stabilizing role in the region under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and confirmed Greece's support through the European Union for Jordan's peace and stability initiatives. Riga also noted that Jordan's legislative environment provides a promising foundation for economic cooperation, especially in transportation, clean energy, and tourism sectors.
Furthermore, Riga highlighted the significance of parliamentary ties in fostering mutual understanding and technical exchange, expressing Greece's interest in expanding student exchange programs and collaboration in higher education and research. Members of the association, including MPs Iyad Jabreen, Hussein Amoush, Shaher Shatnawi, and Naseem Abbadi, expressed their support for enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors to benefit both nations' shared interests.
