Amman: A Jordanian parliamentary delegation Monday met in Algiers with the head and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Algerian National Assembly on parliamentary ties.

MP Mejhim Sqour, the head of the delegation, described the relations between Jordan and Algeria as “distinguished,” urging further cooperation, especially in parliamentary areas.

Sqour noted the constant keenness of both sides to maintain communication on the most important regional and international issues, adding that the relations between the two countries are witnessing further growth, progress and prosperity in various.

He said the Jordanian parliament is “keen” to translate the royal visions to strengthen the relationship between Jordan and Algeria, noting that the parliamentary delegation’s visit aims to build on previous achievements.

The head of the Jordanian Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, Khaldoun Hayna, described the Jordanian-Algerian relations as “solid and strong.”

Hayna talked about the positions between the two countries regarding local and international issues, especially the Palestinian issue and the Hashemite Custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the al-Aqsa Mosque.

In turn, the head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Algerian National Assembly, Dadi Adoun, said the ties between Jordan and Algeria are a “sincere and constant brotherhood relationship over time,” noting the harmony of positions that bring the two parliaments together towards issues of common interest, especially the Palestinian cause.

Adoun expressed Algeria’s support for the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.
