Jordanian, Uzbek Firms Forge Mining Cooperation Agreement

Amman: The Arab National Mining Company (ANM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Uzbek Overseas Geology Company to establish a scientific and practical partnership in the mining and mineral resources sector. The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration between the two nations in this vital industry.

According to Jordan News Agency, the partner company from Uzbekistan is affiliated with the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan. ANM announced that the MoU was the result of a series of meetings conducted in Amman with a high-level Uzbek delegation. This partnership builds upon King Abdullah II's visit to Uzbekistan in August, which marked a new phase of cooperation between the countries, particularly in the mining sector.

ANM Chairperson Hamdi Tabbaa stated that the MoU represents a strategic move towards creating a detailed roadmap for joint exploration, with a specific focus on copper in the Ghor Fifa region. He emphasized that this collaboration is part of a broader partnership involving the Jordanian Uranium Mining Company and leading Uzbek companies recognized among the top five globally in the mining sector.

Tabbaa further explained that the partnership aligns with the national effort to develop the mining sector to bolster the economy and enhance collaboration with international partners who possess advanced expertise.
