Amman: Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan of Jordan and Palestinian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Mustafa met in Amman to discuss bilateral relations and the ongoing Israeli conflict on Gaza.
According to Jordan News Agency, during their meeting on Monday, Hassan and Mustafa focused on the strong historical ties between Jordan and Palestine, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and consultation regarding the challenges faced by the Palestinian cause. Hassan highlighted directives from His Majesty King Abdullah II to support the Palestinian people politically, economically, and on all levels, while also noting Jordan's efforts to halt the conflict in Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Hassan reiterated Jordan's commitment to supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank, expressing opposition to Israeli actions against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. He also discussed Jordan's role in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem, a responsibility under the Hashemite custodianship led by His Majesty the King.
Furthermore, Hassan emphasized Jordan's diplomatic efforts to sustain the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and bolster its mission to provide humanitarian services in accordance with its international mandate.
Mustafa commended Jordan's consistent support for the Palestinian cause and the King's initiatives to cease Israeli aggression, provide aid, and facilitate international efforts to reduce the suffering in Gaza. The discussions also covered the actions of Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
