Amman: Jordan's General Intelligence Department (GID) has successfully thwarted plans targeting national security and aimed at creating chaos and sabotage within the country. In a significant operation, the GID has detained 16 suspects who were allegedly involved in these activities, following extensive intelligence monitoring since 2021.

According to Jordan News Agency, the plans uncovered by the GID include attempts to manufacture rockets using both locally sourced materials and imported tools intended for illegal activities. The suspects were also found in possession of explosives and firearms, and had concealed a rocket ready for deployment. Additionally, there were plans to manufacture drones and efforts to recruit and train operatives both within Jordan and abroad.

The GID has announced that all related cases have been referred to the State Security Court for necessary legal action. This move underscores the agency's commitment to safeguarding national security and preventing any attempts that could destabilize the country.
