Jordan’s Shaheen Takes Bronze at Tashkent 2026 World Taekwondo Junior Championships

Tashkent: Jordan's junior national taekwondo team athlete Abdullah Shaheen secured a bronze medal on Monday during the second day of the Tashkent 2026 World Taekwondo Junior Championships held in the Uzbek capital. Competing in the under-48kg weight class, Shaheen navigated a challenging bracket to reach the podium. He recorded four consecutive victories, defeating Turkiye's Yunus Emre Ozden, Saudi Arabia's Abdulaziz Al-Khalidi, Brazil's Leandro Martins, and Indonesia's Davin Fulvian.

According to Jordan News Agency, Shaheen's run for the gold was halted in the semi-final round, where he lost to Uzbekistan's Usinbek Odilov. The achievement marks the second bronze medal for the Jordanian national team at the current world championships, following a third-place finish by teammate Mohammad Ayasra on Sunday.

In other competition news on Monday, Jordan's Eslam Al-Natsha was eliminated in the round of 64 in the under-55kg category after a defeat to Turkiye's Abdurrahman Yilmaz Kilic.
