KHCF Launches 5th Edition of Cancer Research Award

Amman: King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) launched the 5th edition of the King Hussein Cancer Research Award, which was established by HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Centre in 2020.

According to Jordan News Agency, the award aims to advance cancer research in the Arab world and understand cancer characteristics in the region. This initiative seeks to equip Arab nations with the necessary tools to confront and overcome the disease by integrating scientific methods. The award features several categories, including the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at both regional and global levels. Additionally, the "Emerging Researcher Award" recognizes early-career researchers aged 45 and under for their contributions to cancer studies.

Furthermore, the "Promising Researcher Award" supports two research proposals conducted in the Arab world by promising young researchers. The Professional Development Program for Excellence in Cancer Care category acknowledges programs associated with universities, academic institutions, or accredited hospitals specializing in cancer treatment within the Arab world.

The statement revealed that applications for Arab researchers can be submitted through the official website, www.kinghusseincanceraward.jo, until June 15. Last year, 272 researchers from 28 countries applied for the award, with their applications evaluated by an ad hoc jury based on scientific research criteria.
