King Abdullah II and Albania PM Edi Rama Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Stability

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II received Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama on Monday, according to a royal court statement. During a bilateral meeting followed by an expanded one at Al Husseiniya Palace, His Majesty praised the enduring ties between Jordan and Albania and highlighted the Kingdom's readiness to expand cooperation, particularly in economic and defence sectors.

According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions also focused on promoting interfaith dialogue, a central theme for the upcoming Aqaba Process meetings hosted by Jordan in partnership with Albania. His Majesty commended Albania's role as co-chair for this round of discussions. The meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, delved into recent regional developments. The King emphasised the necessity of international efforts to restore regional stability and respect for sovereignty.

His Majesty reiterated that the two-state solution remains the sole path to achieving just and comprehensive peace, stressing the importance of supporting Palestinians in obtaining their legitimate rights. Addressing the situation in Gaza, the King called for adherence to agreements to end the conflict and emphasized the need for stepped-up efforts in delivering humanitarian aid.

The King also expressed concerns over continued escalations in the West Bank and violations at holy sites in Jerusalem. The meeting saw participation from Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Albania's Ambassador to Jordan Sami Shiba, and the Albanian delegation.
