Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and China President Xi Jinping witnessed the signing of a series of pivotal agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between their respective governments. The signing ceremony, which took place on Monday, marked a significant step in strengthening the bilateral relations between Jordan and China, with Their Royal Highnesses Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II and Princess Salma bint Abdullah II in attendance.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreements spanned multiple sectors, illustrating the broad scope of cooperation between the two nations. One key MoU was signed between the Jordanian and Chinese Ministries of Justice, focusing on legal and judicial cooperation. This agreement aims to enhance the exchange of expertise through training programs and discussions on contemporary legal issues.
Further collaboration was established in the e-commerce sector, with the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce signing an MoU. This agreement seeks to foster cooperation by sharing information on laws and regulations, supporting small to medium enterprises, and facilitating digital trade.
The digital economy was another area of focus, with an MoU signed between the Jordanian Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and China's National Data Administration. This agreement is designed to promote policy coordination and cooperation in digital infrastructure and skills.
In the cultural sector, an MoU was signed between the Royal Film Commission of Jordan and the Chinese Film Administration to enhance collaboration in the film industry. This includes encouraging co-productions and highlighting cultural diversity through film education.
Economic cooperation was further cemented with the signing of an agreement providing a grant of 14.7 million dollars for humanitarian and development projects, alongside an MoU offering 800 training opportunities for the Jordanian Government this year.
Additional MoUs covered civil aviation, aiming to develop the 'Air Silk Road', industrial and supply chains, and diplomatic exchanges between the Jordan Institute of Diplomacy and the China Foreign Affairs University. An agreement between the Jordan Tourism Board and China Media Group was also signed to boost tourism promotion.
High-profile attendees included Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and several other ministers. The ceremony was also attended by Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Jordan's Ambassador to China Hussam Husseini, and China's Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei.
On the sidelines of the visit, further agreements were signed in agriculture, media cooperation, science and technology, mineral resources, social affairs, and more, showcasing the wide-ranging commitment to partnership between the two countries.
