Islamabad: His Majesty King Abdullah II and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari convened on Sunday in Islamabad, marking the culmination of the King's Asian tour. Their discussions highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Jordan and Pakistan and explored avenues for further cooperation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions took place at the Aiwan-e-Sadr Presidential Palace and were attended by key figures, including His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad. The primary focus was on developments in the Middle East and efforts towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace through the two-state solution. King Abdullah emphasized the necessity for all parties to uphold the agreement to end the war on Gaza and to enhance international responses to the humanitarian crisis in the region.
The King also acknowledged Pakistan's significant role in promoting peace and stability, particularly in supporting efforts to end the war on Gaza. He expressed concerns over ongoing attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank and violations against religious sites in Jerusalem, underscoring the need for attention to these critical issues.
In a ceremony recognizing mutual diplomatic efforts, President Zardari awarded King Abdullah the Nishan-e-Pakistan, Pakistan's highest civilian honor, for his contributions to strengthening ties between the two nations. In return, King Abdullah conferred the Order of the Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda on President Zardari, celebrating his efforts and the special relationship shared by Jordan and Pakistan.
Key Jordanian officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Ambassador Maen Khreasat, were present during the talks, signifying the importance of this diplomatic engagement.
