Karak: His Majesty King Abdullah II, during a meeting in Karak with local community leaders, stressed the importance of the continued implementation and oversight of government projects in the region, along with maintaining open channels of communication with citizens.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting held at Prince Feisal Sports City, His Majesty highlighted the necessity of not just good planning but effective implementation. The King called on the government to develop tourism projects in Karak that would benefit the local community by providing employment opportunities for young people and promoting economic growth. In particular, he directed the establishment of a cable car project aimed at enhancing the tourism experience at archaeological sites.
His Majesty also shared insights from his recent international tours, explaining that the visits aim to protect Jordan's interests, defend Arab causes, and open up new economic opportunities for the Kingdom. He emphasized that Jordan remains strong and capable of facing any threats, and reaffirmed the nation's unwavering support for Palestinians, highlighting efforts to aid the people of Gaza and the West Bank.
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, who also spoke at the meeting, reiterated the government's commitment to implementing the King's directives. He noted that the development vision for the governorate, including projects and priorities for each sector, was agreed upon with elected representatives during a previous meeting with the Cabinet in Karak. He assured that the government is moving swiftly to complete the necessary studies for the cable car project, which aims to boost tourism by connecting Karak Castle with broader development paths.
The Prime Minister also mentioned the completion of the Qatraneh Castle restoration, enhancing the tourism sector as part of a larger project to develop desert castles and palaces. The government will continue to focus on development projects across various sectors including industry, agriculture, health, transport, and education.
Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi provided an overview of Royal initiatives in Karak since 2006, with investments exceeding JD50 million. These initiatives have focused on rehabilitating vital buildings and facilities and developing infrastructure, serving sectors such as education, youth, health, social development, tourism, and the environment, thereby creating job opportunities for local communities.
The meeting participants welcomed the King's visit and expressed appreciation for His Majesty's directives on modernization and development. They also discussed achievements in various sectors within Karak, highlighting areas for potential improvement to further enhance industry, agriculture, sports, tourism, and women's empowerment.
The meeting was attended by Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh and Adviser to His Majesty for Tribal Affairs Kneiaan Bluwi.
