King Abdullah II Engages in Strategic Talks with European Leaders at MED9 Summit

Slovenia: His Majesty King Abdullah II met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Greece Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the sidelines of the MED9 Summit in Slovenia. The discussions, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, focused on regional stability and reinforced diplomatic collaborations.

According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah II emphasized the critical need to adhere to the agreement aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza and called for increased efforts to deliver humanitarian aid throughout the Strip. The King also highlighted the risks associated with unilateral actions against Palestinians in the West Bank, including settlement expansion and land annexation plans.

In his meeting with President von der Leyen, King Abdullah II underscored the significance of maintaining coordination with the European Union to address regional developments that align with mutual interests and promote security and stability. The discussion also explored avenues for enhancing cooperation between Jordan and the EU, with particular focus on establishing joint megaprojects.

During the conversation with Prime Minister Mitsotakis, the King reiterated Jordan's dedication to its religious and historical responsibility under the Hashemite Custodianship to protect Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
