Tokyo: His Majesty King Abdullah II held separate meetings on Tuesday with Japan's Speaker of the House of Representatives Nukaga Fukushiro, President of the House of Councillors Sekiguchi Masakazu, and Chairman of the Japan-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Association Tanaka Kazunori. The discussions in Tokyo focused on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing current regional developments.
According to Jordan News Agency, King Abdullah underscored the robust strategic partnership between Jordan and Japan, emphasizing both nations' commitment to strengthening this relationship, especially in parliamentary affairs. The conversations also highlighted the economic and development initiatives that Japan has undertaken in Jordan, with the King expressing his gratitude for Japan's continued support.
His Majesty reiterated Jordan's dedication to advancing its Economic Modernisation Vision, aimed at fostering growth and job creation, and outlined the incentives Jordan offers to attract investment. The discussions also covered recent regional developments, with the King emphasizing the importance of adhering to the agreement to end the war on Gaza and enhancing the humanitarian response. He commended Japan for its support in these efforts.
During the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the King's chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, King Abdullah expressed concerns about the attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank and the violations against Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He stressed that achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution is essential for resolving conflicts in the region.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, and Jordan's Ambassador to Japan Nasser Shraideh.
