Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II met with a group of military retirees at Al Husseiniya Palace on Tuesday, where he discussed with them a number of local and regional issues. During the meeting, His Majesty expressed his support for the United States' initiatives aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region, hoping for commitment to a ceasefire to restore security and stability.

According to Jordan News Agency, the King emphasized the necessity of enhancing international efforts to halt the conflict in Gaza, ensure adequate aid delivery to the Strip, and curtail the escalating tensions in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Highlighting Jordan's ongoing diplomatic engagement, His Majesty underscored the importance of collaborating with friendly nations and active partners to achieve a comprehensive calm, while respecting state sovereignty and international law.

The King reaffirmed that safeguarding Jordan's security and the well-being of its citizens remains a top priority. He also noted Jordan's persistent endeavors to combat terrorism and extremism in coordination with allied nations. His Majesty expressed pride in the dedication and sacrifices of military retirees, acknowledging their vital role in strengthening national spirit.

The attendees, in turn, voiced appreciation for the King's unwavering stances and his efforts to protect Jordan and its people, asserting that the Kingdom will remain steadfast amidst regional challenges. They commended the ongoing progress in modernization and capacity building under the King's leadership.

The meeting was attended by Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, and Public Security Directorate Director Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah.
