Hanoi: His Majesty King Abdullah II met with representatives of leading Vietnamese textile companies and Jordan's textile sector in Hanoi on Thursday. The meeting, organized in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), sought to explore investment opportunities and potential partnerships to enhance industrial ventures in the textile sector between the private sectors of both nations.
According to Jordan News Agency, His Majesty emphasized Jordan's dedication to bolstering economic and trade relations with Vietnam, highlighting Vietnam's expertise in attracting investments and advancing local industries, particularly in textiles. He outlined Jordan's investment benefits and opportunities available to Vietnamese companies, especially in special industrial zones focused on the garment and textile sector, which could help Vietnam access new markets.
Khawaja Aftab, IFC Division Director for the Middle East, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, stressed the significance of manufacturing as a key job creation driver. He remarked: "Today's Vietnam-Jordan textile industry roundtable builds on our ongoing advisory support to strengthen the textile sector, expand job opportunities for Jordanians, attract new investments, and boost trade in line with the Kingdom's Economic Modernisation Vision."
Vu Duc Giang, Chairman of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, also addressed the roundtable, expressing a willingness to visit Jordan to explore avenues for diversifying markets, products, and commercial brands, as well as to participate in joint investments aligned with the strategic trade objectives of Vietnam and Jordan.
Official figures reveal that Jordan's textile exports reached approximately $2.4 billion in 2024, with the majority directed towards the United States. The roundtable was attended by Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah, and Jordan's non-resident Ambassador to Vietnam Saed Radaideh.
