Aqaba: His Majesty King Abdullah II held a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Aqaba on Saturday, focusing on enhancing the partnership between Jordan and Germany and discussing recent regional developments.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Germany. His Majesty emphasized the significance of expanding cooperation in economic and defense sectors and stressed the importance of ongoing coordination to support regional stability.
The leaders also addressed the situation in Gaza, with King Abdullah underscoring the necessity of adhering to all stages of the agreement to end the conflict and ensure humanitarian aid reaches all parts of the Strip. He expressed concerns over the continuous Israeli escalations in the West Bank and violations of holy sites in Jerusalem.
Both leaders agreed on the urgency of establishing a political framework for a just and comprehensive peace, grounded in the two-state solution. Additionally, discussions included the importance of supporting Syria and Lebanon in maintaining their security, stability, and sovereignty, as well as respecting the security and sovereignty of regional countries.
Chancellor Merz conveyed Germany's readiness to enhance cooperation with Jordan across various sectors and lauded Jordan's efforts in promoting regional stability. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh.
